My name is Irene Birk.

I knit because I love it – I design because I can’t stop it.

My mother and grandmother taught me how to knit when I was a child, but my enthusiasm for the yarn and the needles came to me with my children. Our kids are very thankful, so I got the courage to begin and when first started, I could not stop. I quickly exceeded to knitting for myself.

When I knit today, I usually end up rewriting and modifying knitting patterns, so they fit my own desires. If I have an idea in my head, but no knitting pattern, I just knit in my ideas as I go along. As I am very thorough I usually write everything down in the process, either at small pieces of paper or at nicely formatted spread sheets. This way I end up with the foundation to a new knitting pattern, each time I knit something new. I have now chosen to carry on my work and write knitting pattern of my own design.

I love to distribute knowledge and therefore my passion for knitting has not only resulted in loads of knit work, it has also resulted in my own knitting site [PaaPinden.dk] in Danish, devoted to help knitters with their knitting challenges.
